Where to start with my first ever blog? Following the advice of Julie Andrews in The Sound of Music (yes, I am old enough to have watched it!) ... ‘let’s start at the very beginning ‘.

What a roller coaster of a journey I have been on since retiring in March 2018. It was my 55th birthday, it was my retiral day from the NHS (more than 30 years as a consultant forensic psychiatrist) and my husband died of a brain tumour the same day. The future we had planned for our retiral was not going to be happening.

I found my passion for art again, after a 38-year hiatus. 18 months on I have built an art studio in my garden , started my own business, launched my website www.rhonamorrison.com and I am selling artwork in galleries , shops , cafes and even the hospice .

Coming to terms with the business world has been a steep learning curve... very different from assessing and treating mentally disordered offenders!

I dipped my toe in the water, but I am now fully immersed in the art business... share my journey of discovery x
